Epilepsy Bereaved began with just a few families by the time I got involved it was becoming renowned throughout the world. I came up with the charity’s identity which has changed very little since then.

Charity work

It has been my privilege to work voluntarily for several charities over recent years. Here are a few examples...

An information poster published by the joint epilepsy council and  Times Educational Supplement 14th Nov 2003. Illustration by Christian Adams, text Jennifer Preston and Emma Mandley.

produced to give teachers up to date advice on seizures and best practice.

We painted the Sky is a poetry book published by Epilepsy Bereaved. At the time, I was producing the  charity’s quarterly news magazine and we were getting many poems sent in by our members. Too many to include in fact so it was decided to make a book. It was printed at  Chalfont book binders which is in the grounds of National Society for Epilepsy ( NSE) Chalfont centre.

I’ll just mention that the front jacket photograph is of a set of footprints made by my husband Michael  who died in 1995 aged just 36 from, we believe, SUDEP. I thought it appropriate to put him on there as a quiet tribute.

There may be just  a few copies left ( contact Epilepsy bereaved) and a new edition is possibly on the cards later in the year.
