If I gave my life for you

What would you do?

You’d serenade me in poetry

Saying I died to set you free.

At the setting of the sun

Let this be a warning

For once a year you’ll remember me

In the morning

Remember me

Remember me

I’m the one who died to set you free

But I gave my life

Needlessly

If you don’t remember me

Remember Me

In the next pages I have included a few  of my poems and some as this one which I recorded using my Ovation and a keyboard. I’m not claiming to be a great singer. I just do it for fun and now you get to hear it too.  Remember me is inspired by the poets of the First World War.

So the poppies sway in the winds of time

Once again you’ll read your rhyme.

We were young and cared

He will win who dares

But the sun is setting

So don’t let’s pretend.

For us it was the end

Remember me etc.

One drop of red on white stone cold as snow

Mark my place with crosses, row on row

Poppy plant your seeds of peace

In the hearts left that still care

And in the glowing sunset air

Please tell our story

For once a year without peace

Death has no glory

Remember me etc.

Could it be that we died because our fathers lied?

Could it be, we died needlessly?
