I graduated from the Central school Of Art and Design, Holborn in 1981. My first job was with the Macclesfield Silk Museum assisting with the creation of permanent exhibitions. One of the most fascinating and rewarding parts of the job was talking to  local people about their time working in the Silk industry and collecting their “treasures” for exhibition. I remember those times with great affection batting up and down the Cheshire countryside with Nick Kershaw blaring from my bright orange  old banger (I used paint from Woolworth to tart it up)  between Mac and Northwich salt Museum where Cheshire museums design studio was based. My dear old Dad was always having to rescue me when the car conked out which it did frequently. Ah those were the days!

The Sunday school exhibition at the Macclesfield Silk Heritage Centre showing my Angel design at the top of the panels. I’m giving away my age when I mention this is all hand drawn. No computer  aided design then!

Poem below about Macclesfield from  my art school days.
