The Big picture

I am a cub scout leader in

Cookham village During the

Centenary of scouting in 2007

there were many projects

available to participate in. One of

these was an art competition.

I decided to co-ordinate a project which would take in all the members of the scout group from  our youngest beaver right through cubs, scouts, explorers and adults.  Our centenary gateway celebrates “One World” of scouting.  The idea is a gateway to the next century of scouting. You walk through the central circle. The world is positioned  a few metres behind and in itself illustrates badges from scouting countries.

Whilst I had the idea to make it read 100  from the beginning, the images themselves evolved as it went along. We added in the left hands because scouts shake with their left hand.

The Gateway is used as an entrance to our camps and may be borrowed as a publicity tool.
